Generally, I won't write until I have been given some kind of incentive to write. My quarters are my incentive, in order to make the crane machine work, you must put in quarters. Without the quarters, I have no reason to write, as writing doesn't interest me. Once I have been given a reason to write, you have my attention. I check the sides of the machine to make sure I have every angle correct in order to achieve my goal, the stuffed animal in the machine.
Sometimes, you'll get what you have wanted from the machine. Other times, I will lose. My writing is, for a lack of better terms, a hit or miss. There will be times where I am able to write a marvelous paper, but more often than not, I write stinkers. Just like the crane, I am driven by incentives, and just like the crane, I wont always get the animal. But one thing is for sure, as long as I have my quarters, I always keep trying.
I never thought about writing in that way. It's true, we need incentives(good grades)that push us to do our work. I Like your comparison to the crane and how you'll always keep trying.
ReplyDeleteI think this is so true. With the incentives being a motovation. I really hate writing unless I have to. Most people dont understand it anyway. But I thought this was a great way of explaing it.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the metaphor you used! I never thought of writing as that. I love the last sentence you put down, great job!
